Savory Air Fryer Crispy Old Bay Chicken Wings are crunchy, mildly spicy and full of flavor. Serve them up with a warm Lemon Butter Sauce for dipping.
Everyone knows in this house, Friday night is Wing Night, although sometimes it is Saturday and sometimes, well, we just forget that it is Friday. The point is that we love our wings, especially since making them in our Air Fryer.
Amanda in my Facebook Air Fryer Group posted her wings made using Old Bay Seasoning. Well, Old Bay is one of my favorite seasonings and I make my own Homemade Old Bay Seasoning Recipe. My Air Fryer Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken Wings is super popular, so I decided to use a similar method for these Air Fryer Crispy Old Bay Chicken Wings.
Amanda adds melted butter and Old Bay Seasoning to her Air Fried Wings. I did mine a bit differently.
Potato Starch really crisps up wings and gives them a special kind of crunch that I absolutely love. You can leave it off if you like, but I love that extra crunch. The True Lemon add a very fresh lemon flavor, without watering down the sauce. Plus, if you don’t have fresh lemons, True Lemon is just as good. Seriously.
Pat the chicken wings dry, with a paper towel. Pull off any feathers or hair you may see.
Mix together the Homemade Old Bay Seasoning Recipe Mix with the Potato Starch. For a stronger lemony taste, add a sprinkle of True Lemon. Dredge the wings into the mixture and make sure they are coated well.
*** If you are planning to make half Old Bay Wings and half Air Fryer Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken Wings, you can leave out the Homemade Old Bay Seasoning Recipe Mix from the Potato Starch and just add it to the melted butter and then toss it over the wings. This way, you can make two flavors of chicken wings at once.
I personally prefer to cook the chicken wings with the Homemade Old Bay Seasoning Recipe Mix and Potato Starch mixture and then toss the wings into the hot lemon butter.
I use a large Air Fryer and it holds 20 pieces of wings without a problem. Shake the basket often, so that the coating does not stick to the basket. If you use a smaller Air Fryer, you might want to do this in two batches.
Using a low heat, melt the butter in a small saucepan. If you want a nice lemony taste, sprinkle in some True Lemon. It will taste like fresh lemon when you pour it over the Air Fryer Crispy Old Bay Chicken Wings. You can always sprinkle in some Homemade Old Bay Seasoning Recipe Mix if you like.
Toss the Air Fryer Crispy Old Bay Chicken Wings into the melted butter and serve with fresh lemons on the side. Pour the extra butter into ramekins for dipping. Which is what I did and I totally forgot to put the ramekin in the photo, so pretend it is there in the back.
Enjoy this meal with a side of my Pressure Cooker Wild Mushroom Risotto. For another delicious Wing recipe, check out my Air Fryer Chinese Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings.
